Blended Families Ministry

Approximately one-third of all weddings in America today form blended families (also called stepfamilies). A blended family is a family unit where one or both parents have children from a previous relationship, but they have combined to form a new family. One out of three Americans is now a stepparent, stepchild, stepsibling, or some other member of a blended family, and more than half of americans living today will live in at least one step-situation during their lifetime. It is predicted that there will be more stepfamilies in the U.S. than any other type of family in the very
near future.

Blended families aren’t that modern…

Blended families are certainly not a modern arrangement. As a matter of fact, blended families are mentioned throughout the Bible. Abraham, Sarah, and Hagar with their children. Jacob, Rachel, and Leah with their children. Joseph raised his stepson, Jesus, along with the children he had with Mary. Complex family dynamics have been around for some time. Through it all, God was there for all of these Biblical families, just as He is here for the blended families of today. God's grace and love are available for everyone, for all families.

Family_Quote.pngThe Parenting Center at St. Luke’s is launching a new ministry for Blended Families and we need you! First, we need your help in identifying blended families in the St. Luke’s community. If it isn’t you, maybe it’s a friend or neighbor. You do not need to be a church member to participate. Next, we want to hear from you! Let us know who you are and what you would like to see from this new group. Some ideas include fellowship events, support groups, a Bible Study, a Sunday School group, and/or hearing important topics from a speaker. Click here to complete our online contact form, so we can know who you are and reach out to you with news and upcoming events.

Here are some upcoming events:
