Introducing the Nick Finnegan Ministry
benefiting the
St. Luke's Center For Counseling and Life Enrichment

William Nicholas “Nick” Finnegan V was born on March 31, 1986 and died August 9, 2004.  Nick was a truly outstanding individual, loved by all who knew him.  He was a 2004 graduate of St. John's School where he was a high honors student, a National Merit Finalist, and an Advanced Placement Scholar, with distinction.  He was captain of the cross-country and track teams, voted outstanding athlete in his class for both his junior and senior years, and continues to hold the 1,600 meter record at St. John's.  With nine varsity letters in track, cross-country, and soccer and all-conference cross-country and track recognition for the last two years, he was an unusually skilled athlete, as well as a scholar.   His sense of humor charmed all who knew him.  He especially loved his little brother, Scotty, and his younger sister, Terrell, whose athletic events he attended unfailingly.  Nick’s mother, Susan Finnegan remembers fondly that one time when he and friends were all gathered at their home, “Nick made each of the guys come and say thank you to me.  Nick has changed a lot of people’s lives, he was a guy whose impact was on how people interacted.”

The Nick Finnegan Ministry was established in memory of Nick by his parents, Bill and Susan Finnegan who through their experience of supportive Christian counseling in their time of need were able to grieve the loss of their son and find the faith to move forward as a family.  Their hope for Nick’s ministry is that it supports a lifelong commitment to encourage people to seek help when they need it and that it will raise awareness that it is okay to ask for help and that there are resources readily available for minimal cost.  The Finnegan family embraces a commitment to healing brokenness and that every time a life is changed through the work of the St. Luke’s Center for Counseling and Life Enrichment, Nick’s compassion and love for others is remembered.  All programs sponsored by the Nick Finnegan Ministry offer hope for people in challenging life situations through supportive relationships and resources in the church and community.
