Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a confidential, supervised, one-on-one caring ministry for those who need the loving support of a Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are lay people who receive 50 hours of training and who make a 2-year commitment to be available for 1 hour a week as needed for this ministry. If you would like to become a Stephen Minister or think you could benefit from one, please contact Ann Yeoman (713)-402-5046.

From a Stephen Minister
“As a Stephen Minister, I can tell you that I've received 'seventy times seven' more than I have given. That is God's way. He is so generous when we turn our faces to Him. When we can bless others with our time, our energy, our compassion, God blesses us because we are in harmony with His purposes.”
From Mary, a Stephen Ministry care receiver
“My husband had just moved into a nursing home. Suddenly, I found myself living alone after more years than I can remember and I felt overwhelmed by all of the decisions that were now facing me. Understanding what a difficult time in my life this was, a friend from church recommended that I ask for a Stephen Minister. I had no idea what a Stephen Minister was. I thought perhaps they were religious advocates, but I soon learned that their duty is to listen. My Stephen Minister was wonderful! She was interested in my life (and I hers) and we talked about God's plan for our lives. I could say anything to her, whether I was sad or fearful. Our Stephen Minister relationship was entirely confidential. She just let me talk, held my hand when I needed it and prayed with me. She truly helped me through an extremely challenging time. While I no longer need her as my Stephen Minister, she is a good friend and always will be!”
