- Teachers - 2 teachers per classroom
- Counseling Teachers - create lesson plans  and assist  teachers during VBS as needed
- Recreation/Games Teachers - lead organized games and activities for 1st-5th graders
- Drama/Skit leaders - create and direct daily skits related to Bible stories

Gethsemane Sunday School teachers

Sunday School and Confirmation classes can and should be life-changing in the lives of our children.  Help the children (ages 5-12) at our Gethsemane campus learn about the Bible and how important a life with Christ really is.  Help is needed Sunday mornings at each of these times: 8:30-9:30, 9:30-10:30 and 11:00-12:00.

Love children and music?

Our precious 3-yr olds need a music teacher...is God calling you here?  You know the music they love, songs like "Jesus loves me" and the ones we sang when we were 3 years old.  It's simple and fun and those precious faces and voices will brighten your day.

Tender Loving Care phone calls

In times of need and joy, there’s nothing like a phone call, and what a better way to say “we love you and we’re here for you” than with a personal call from our loving church family? You can be a part of this team who makes phone calls for a variety of reasons – those rejoicing in the birth of a baby to those dealing with the death of a loved one. If you enjoy making phone calls on your own schedule, from the comfort of your own home, and have been the recipient of a loving phone call like this, you’ll love this ministry.

Sometimes the greatest gift of all is simply your presence…

Its about 1 to 1-1/2 hours a month is all it takes to make a difference in the lives of folks who are in need of your smile, your help in navigating their way through our church, your assistance in passing out bulletins and/or serving as reception host or hostess for memorial and funeral services that celebrate life, Christian faith and resurrection. We would invite you to offer your gifts and fulfill your calling by serving in this ministry of presence through our Funeral Guild and/or our Reception Guild.

Radical Hospitality – Greet people on Sunday mornings

Help welcome our visitors and members as they enter our parking lot on Sunday mornings. This is an easy, flexible ministry that you can do while you’re already here on Sunday mornings. We just need you 10-15 minutes before or after services. If you work during the week or travel some weekends but want to get involved, this is a great opportunity.

Greeters - Be part of our new Open Doors ministry - Sundays

Let's give our visitors and members a warm welcome on Sunday mornings! Be the first smiling face that greets someone when they walk through our doors. It's as easy as coming 10-15 minutes before the service you are attending. Just let us know you'll be there, and bring your whole family!

Baptism Guild - 11:00 service - Sundays

Do you remember when your own child was baptized? Make this just as special a day for a St. Luke's family! You will meet with the families 30 minutes before the service starts in Dr. Pace’s office and help them get ready, take a picture (camera provided), and then lead them over to the Sanctuary side door 10 minutes before the service starts.

Answer phones and questions on Sunday mornings at the church - Sundays

When you give someone a call, are you pleased when a cheerful, happy voice greets you on the other end? Be that person for St. Lukes! Do you have one hour a week to spare, to help the church in a vital way? We need Sunday morning receptionists. You'll be able to see and greet lots of people who are at the church and you can watch the entire service on TV right in front of you!

Help people find a place to serve as a Connection Center consultant - Sundays

Are you connected in a ministry or small group and want to help someone else do the same? Do you have 30 minutes to give on a Sunday morning? Come help us connect people into volunteer opportunities and small groups at the Connection Center on Sunday mornings for 30 minutes before OR after a worship service. You're already here at church! Help answer the congregation's questions and get people plugged in to the right ministry areas.

Behind the Scenes Help with Adoption Ministry

We have an opportunity for someone that has just a few hours available each spring, summer, fall & winter. It is a “behind the scenes” task, yet makes a big difference in the lives of prospective foster & adoptive families, which in turn, makes a huge difference in the lives of waiting children. We need a volunteer to put up and take down signage for people to find their way to Adoption / Foster Care Training Classes. The classes are scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday evening and one Saturday in February, May, August, and November.

Artistic Talent needed!

Do you have the gift of creativity and have a little time to spare during the holidays or new year?  Several ministries need help updating their bulletin boards so they are fresh, exciting and informative. We could use your help if you have a flare for this, and we can work with your schedule.

Attendance Pad Collectors - Sundays

Have you wondered if anyone actually reads or uses the attendance pad sheets we sign during worship? Yes we do! These are our primary means of contacting our visitors and also making sure our member's needs are taken care of. We need YOU just once a month (or more if you want) to help us collect the attendance pads from the Sanctuary, sort them, and then leave them for us to enter. It's easy, quick and fun! We collect the pads following the 11:00 a.m. service and it only takes about 15-20 minutes. This is a great family volunteer opportunity!

Communion Steward - Sundays

Is communion an important part of worship for you? Do you typically attend the 8:30 or 11:00 service? Then join our team! Help us prepare the elements for the 8:30 or 12:05 communions by coming before the service you normally attend. Each person serves for 1 month, 3 times a year. You can attend the 8:30 or 11:00 service as usual, and then help us clear communion following the service. We'd greatly appreciate your help!

Career Decisions Workshop crew help needed

Do you have time to help those who are looking for a job? The Career Decisions Workshop meets every Thursday and depending on your time available, we could use you in a variety of ways at this workshop - food arrangement and set up and/or with administrative details. If you can’t be there on Thursdays, and have some Excel spreadsheet experience, you can help from home by managing the database and weekly job postings.

Do you have ONE hour just ONCE a month?

On the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 2:00 p.m., Senior Adults ministry needs help setting tables for their Mainstreamers event. Then during the last week of the month, they need help folding and labeling newletters to send to Senior Adults. Bring a friend and catch up while doing something worthwhile and helpful!

United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Greater Houston meets Wednesdays at St. Luke's

If you are available some Wednesday mornings, the UCP group is seeking help with arts, crafts and games, as well as serving food, for adults with disabilities. The program is held at St. Luke’s Crossroads Building from 9:30-12:30. Volunteers do not have to commit to every week; just whenever they can come is greatly appreciated. However, knowing you when you plan to be there will help us, so please contact Sarah Ardis, 713-838-9050 x351, sardis@ucphouston.org.

Kids Pals - Sundays

Want to make a real difference in an hour? We offer a wonderful service to special needs children and their families, so that they can attend worship service - it’s called Kids Pals. The time commitment is one Sunday per month and you work one-on-one with a child with special needs to help them get the most out of their Sunday School experience. You're helping the parents reconnect with Christ at the same time.

Ushers needed in 9:45 service - Sundays

Do you love welcoming people and greeting them with a smile when they walk through the door of the Sanctuary? Volunteer for just an hour as an usher while you’re already here on Sunday mornings, in either the Traditional or Encounter services. We especially need help at the 9:45 Traditional service and in the Encounter service. This is an easy job that will start someone's day right!

Invitation to Pray

If you feel a desire to pray often or just feel a need to lift up prayers of the congregants of this church, please join our prayer team. You can sign up for a Prayer Partner or sign up to come to our prayer room and pray over the list of requested prayers. As we all know...God answers prayers!

Develop lasting relationships by making deliveries to our Friends at Home members - Sundays

Do you have one Sunday a month that you can deliver the beautiful altar flowers to our Friends at Home members? If you enjoy just being a helping hand and/or visiting the elderly who can't come to church, this is for you!

Help us set up for events at the church in Apron Ministry - Weekdays

For all St. Luke's events, we need help setting the tables and arranging decorations and food to look pretty. If you have the gift of hospitality or enjoy getting your house ready for a party, please help us do the same thing at St. Luke's.

Be an extension of Christ by baking and bringing meals to those in need

When you've been sick or had a baby, has someone brought you a meal and made your life a little easier? Do you love to cook? We as a church value the importance of a warm meal, especially during tough times. Let us know if you can cook a meal every once in a while and deliver it to someone in need (we'll try to find someone close to your house!) and be a part of our Casserole Ministry.

Help us welcome our new members as a Christian Friend - Sundays

Isn't it exciting to see new members join St. Luke's every Sunday? Come help new members feel welcome and connected into the church following the worship service you're already attending.

Make a difference in a new mom's life through Young Lives - a ministry for teen moms

Young Lives is Young Life's ministry to teen moms. Just as in Young Life where volunteers have the opportunity to share the love of Jesus Christ with every child, whomever they are, wherever they are, Young Lives' volunteers do the same thing for middle and high school students who are raising a child on their own.

Do you have talents or experience in PR, Communications or Social Media?

Our Communications department needs help in a variety of ways. We need people who are gifted or just enjoy proofreading, still photography and video production, graphic design, video editing, marketing, public relations, writing, and/or social media. Can you help us post flyers on Facebook or YouTube? Are you experienced in working on the web? We need help with everything from content management to coding, web design to search engines. We need YOU!

Fill the pews with Dr. Pace's sermon notes cards as a Shirley's Angel - Fridays

Do you have a free hour on Friday afternoon from 1-2 pm? We need help stocking the pews with Dr. Pace's sermon notes. Be an angel and help us! It doesn't take long the more people we have so grab a friend and let's get stocking!

Camera Operators needed in TV Ministry - Sundays

Is Sunday the best day for you to volunteer at the church since you’re already here to attend worship services? Do you love operating cameras or videotaping or do you wish you knew how? You don’t even need to know how to operate a camera…we’ll teach you!

Be a positive, life-changing mentor in a child's life through Kids Hope USA - Weekdays

When you were growing up, was there an adult in your life who positively influenced you? Be that person for someone else and make a difference in our community by mentoring a child one hour once a week. For a small amount of your time, you can really impact the life of a child. Men are especially needed.

Can you help us make phone calls?

In an effort to build up the Counseling Center's referral network, we need help making calls to counselors and therapists. We will provide you with a list of names and numbers of offices to call. You can make the calls from the convenience of your own home or from the Counseling Center. You will only be making the initial call to get Amy Birchill in the door. What an easy job that will really make a difference!

Help us acknowledge memorials/honorariums - Fridays

Do you just have an hour every week or two? Do you have pretty handwriting or the ability to type? We need help on Fridays acknowledging memorials and honorariums. Please let us know if you're available!
