St. Luke’s is proud to be a founding member of our Community Partners. These are organizations established through St. Luke’s. Please consider supporting these organizations with your gifts, prayers and service.

Christian Community Center (CCSC)

In 1977, CCSC was founded through a grassroots effort by Dean Robinson, a diaconal minister at St. Luke’s UMC, to meet the immediate needs of people in crisis. Over the years, CCSC has flourished, with programs developing and adapting to address the changing community needs. There are many volunteer opportunities available! Find more information here.

Amazing Place

Amazing Place, originally known as The Seniors Place, began in two converted classrooms at St. Luke’s UMC in 1996.  The organization remains true to its original mission – serving adults with mild to moderate dementia and their caregiving families.   Volunteers play an important role in promoting this mission. Find out how you can get involved here.

reVision

Since 2011, reVision has been working with youth enmeshed at every point of the school to prison pipeline – teens in trouble at school, in juvenile detention and on probation. This program provides high-quality mentoring, case management, community support and educational programming to more than 1,100 youth per year. Volunteer to support reVision’s mission here.

Connect Community

Gulfton/Sharpstown is the most diverse neighborhood in the most diverse city in the country. Created in 2016, Connect Community brings organizations and local residents together to collaborate, align their efforts, and mobilize a broader network of assets to meet needs and strengthen the overall community. The Restoration Team (TRT)

In September 2017, following Hurricane Harvey, four churches joined together to work on a long-term recovery strategy: St. Luke’s UMC, Chapelwood UMC, St. Paul’s UMC and Westbury UMC.  TRT was created to be this long-term response, and continues to play a vital role in the ongoing work of recovery.  All levels of volunteers are needed to support this mission. Find out how you can get involved here.

PX Project

In 2019, St. Luke’s held a capital campaign that focused on making a positive impact in the city of Houston. After months of research, a committee landed on a desire to develop a unique workforce program in a culinary setting. Using the kitchen as their primary vehicle, PX Project focuses on a wide range of employability skills as well as social and emotional health. Support this wonderful ministry by signing up for the PX Lunch List or scheduling them to cater your next event here.

Small Steps Nurturing Center (SSNC)

Seeing a need for affordable preschool education in an underserved area of Houston, St. Luke’s partnered with Small Steps Nurturing Center in January of 2021. Small Steps seeks to help break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for more families. Find out how you can support SSNC here.
