Dear St. Luke’s Family,

When Jesus speaks about the kingdom of God, he most often uses images from agriculture. A mustard seed grows into a great tree. A harvest is plentiful. A tree bears fruit. These images remind us that the kingdom of God is all about growth – progress – moving forward. At St. Luke’s, we believe each one of us is on a journey, striving to be growing Up – hearts transformed by a relationship to Jesus, growing In – lives transformed by Christian community, and growing Out – a city transformed by the love of Jesus. One step that helps us make progress on that journey is growing in our generosity. Like the discipline of prayer, the practice of generosity is both a sign and a tool of spiritual growth, leading our hearts and behavior to be more aligned with the character of Christ. Jesus says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21). What we do with our treasure will lead our hearts. I hope you will pray about your support of St. Luke’s ministries, and make a commitment of your generosity for 2024. During October, as we talk about our own spiritual journeys up, in, and out, we will also be inviting you to take a step to grow in generosity. I believe St. Luke’s is making a real difference, both in the lives of our church family and in our broader community, and it’s through your support for our ministries that we make that happen.
In Christ,

We are honored to serve as the 2024 Generosity Chairs. We have worshiped and served at St. Luke’s for more than twenty years, because we are drawn to this community which is rooted and established in the love of God. In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul is inviting us to imagine ourselves as trees that are rooted in the soil of God’s love. Like a tree, churches also need the strength of their “roots” – us, the congregation — so that the vision of St. Luke’s to equip families and individuals to live and love like Jesus can grow and advance. This year, our family will increase our annual pledge commitment in order to help meet the needs ofour congregation and the larger community. We hope you will prayerfully consider making your annual operating pledge commitment to St. Luke’s and if you are able, to increase your gift. If you have never considered making a pledge commitment before, we invite you to join us. Your pledge can be made now and paid to St. Luke’s in 2024, on the schedule that works for you. Every one of our pledge commitments is vital to helping the ministries of St. Luke’s plan for the coming year, and to share the gift of God’s love with others. Thank you!
Rooted in His love,

God of Love,

Open my heart and mind to experience fully your love for me. As you have given to me, guide me to know how to give back to you and your work for your kingdom.
Tune my heart to give out of gratitude for the ways you give to me, so that I may grow in my faith and know the joy of a generous life. Amen. Read Prayers from our Pastors.
