Senior Adult Ministries of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church is dedicated to creating, promoting, and carrying out meaningful programs, activities and services by, with and for senior adults.

Programs are designed primarily for the needs and interests of those church members and constituents 65 years and older. Those involved in our programs call themselves “Mainstreamers” as persons “living in the mainstream of life.”

Ongoing Activities and Special Events

Mainstreamer Day Program and Lunch - Enjoy a wonderful time of fellowship and enrichment at these meetings on the second Thursday of each month, except July.

Silver Circle - Senior Adults meet on the 4th Wednesday each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Canterbury Hall at the Gethsemane Campus.  Join the group in a morning of games and conversation. Lunch buffet ($5) and birthday celebrations at noon.  For reservations and information contact Betsy Evans 281-565-0348.

Mainstreamer Day Trips - Each month the group gathers to visit a historically or culturally significant place. Travel is by Precinct Four bus or by church bus, which leave from the St. Luke’s parking lot.  The day trip always includes a stop for lunch. Costs vary, depending on the trip.

Theatre Under the Stars - St. Luke’s Senior Adult Ministries sponsors a group of Season Ticket Subscribers that attends the last Sunday matinee performance of each of the TUTS shows. Transportation is provided to and from the church for both brunch and the theater.

Transportation is provided from the church parking lot. Prices include your theatre ticket, gratuities and transportation, with lunch as an additional cost.

Alley Theatre - We attend Saturday matinee performances of Alley Theatre productions as they are offered throughout the season, including the Summer Chills series. These outings always include lunch. Prices include your ticket, gratuities and transportation from the church, with lunch as an additional cost.

Line Dancing - You will find this happy group gathering every Monday afternoon, with instructor, Bob Bedient, to enjoy the social and exercise benefits of dancing. Cost is $30 for each 10-week session. Call 713-402-5008 for dates and location.

Silver Sound - If you enjoy singing, join in with others who also like to sing.  Silver Sound gathers on specified Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. in the choir room under the leadership of Beverly Laubach and accompanist BB Bamberg, Music and Fine Arts Ministry, to prepare for specific performances.  For information about Silver Sound or upcoming rehearsal schedules and shows, contact Beverly Laubach at 713-402-5122.  No special talents required….just come join the fun!

In addition they offer Holy Communion during the Lenten season, deliver poinsettias during Christmastime, and send out monthly mailings to our Friends at Home.
