Senior Adults Trips
Day Trips
On the third Thursday of each month, our group gathers to travel to some historically or culturally significant place. Some trips are in the city, others are outside the city a short distance. The day always includes a stop for lunch. Travel is by Precinct Four bus or by chartered or church bus, which leaves from the St. Luke’s parking lot.
Costs vary, depending on the trip, but usually include all charges for the day, such as admissions, transportation, lunch and tips. Trips are open to all (you must be at least 50 to ride on Precinct buses) but reservations are required and are taken in the order received. Advance payment is appreciated. All participants are asked to sign a St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Medical Information form.
Extended Travel
Occasionally, longer trips are offered, sponsored by either St. Luke's or by the Fellowship of Older Adult Ministries of the Texas Conference.
Retreats and Special Events
Both Senior Adult Ministries of St. Luke’s and the Fellowship of Older Adult Ministries of the Texas Conference of the Methodist Church sponsor events of interest to older adults. In the spring of each year, there is a Senior Adult Retreat at a nearby retreat center, as well as other periodic retreat opportunities. Other periodic events focus on healthful living and spiritual enrichment. Details are published well in advance of each event.
