Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministers are lay people who receive 50 hours of training and who make a 2-year commitment to be available for 1 hour a week as needed for this ministry.
If you would like to become a Stephen Minister or think you could benefit from one, please contact Linda Christians at 713-402-5114.

I Need Help
I contacted the church and requested a Stephen Minister. Asking for help was a major step for me and it was the beginning of God’s healing grace in my life. My Stephen Minister listened patiently as I poured out my pain and frustration. I knew I could trust her with my feelings. As she walked with me over a period of months, God healed my soul.
Stephen Ministries Care for People Facing Tough Times
We all experience challenges in life - times when we could benefit from the support of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers are ready to provide the emotional and spiritual care we need when faced with a crisis or difficulty such as:
- Loss of a loved one
- Hospitilization
- Divorce or separation
- Loneliness or discouragement
- Spiritual crisis
- Unemployment or a job crisis
- A terminal illness
- Incarceration
- Aging
- Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
- A chronic illness
- Relocation
- Recovery after an accident or disaster
- And many more
Stephen Ministry is a confidential ministry:
The identity of those receiving care and what takes place in each caring relationship remain private.
Stephen Ministry is Your Ministry
You play an important role in our Stephen Ministry. Here's what you can do:
- Pray for God to bring hope and healing to hurting people through our Stephen Ministry
- Accept care from a Stephen Minister during your time of need. God doesn't expect you to bear your burdens alone.
- Tell a friend, neighbor, coworker, or relative who is hurting about our Stephen Ministry
- If you are a good listener and compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a Stephen Minister.
I Want to Provide Care
As a Stephen Minister, I can tell you that I've received 'seventy times seven' more than I have given. That is God's way. He is so generous when we turn our faces to Him. When we can bless others with our time, our energy, our compassion, God blesses us because we are in harmony with His purposes.
Get in on the Action
Would you like to be part of a ministry that makes a real difference in others' lives when they need it most - and in your own? Consider becoming a Stephen Minister
Stephen Ministers are members of our congregation who provide one-to-one caring ministry to people experiencing grief, divorce, loneliness, job loss, hospitilization, and many other life difficulties.
Stephen Minister training equips you to do an excellent job as a Stephen Minister as well as to imporove the quality of your relationships. Topics include:
- Listening
- Feelings
- Confidentiality
- Providing Christian care
- Maintaining boundaries
- Crisis theory and practice
- Ministering to people experiencing grief, divorce, hospitilization, illness, and more
Once equipped, Stephen Ministers are prayerfully matched with people who are going through a stressful time or life difficulty. A Stephen Minister meets with this person once a week for about an hour to listen, care, encourage, and pray. The Stephen Minister brings Christ's presence into the person's life and also experiences Christ in the other person. It's really a life-changing ministry for both the care receiver and the Stephen Minister.
