John Bunyan, author of The Pilgrim’s Progress, said,
“You can do more than pray, after you have prayed,
but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed.”
The Prayer Walking series is the emphasis for St. Luke’s upcoming stewardship effort and has three important goals.
- Reinvigorate the prayer life of our church family. When we join St. Luke’s we commit to support the church with our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Prayer is first, and is the foundation for our other promises. We will challenge you to pray, and equip you with the tools to do so.
- Unite the congregation in prayer for our vision. St. Luke’s is committed to being a church where no one walks alone, and has exciting plans to live this vision. Each week we will outline and dedicate our prayers to specific 2012 ministry goals. When we unite in prayer behind our shared vision, the power of God working through us will be unstoppable.
- Invite our members to “put feet on their prayers.” Prayer is the leading edge, but we must invest in St. Luke’s vision with our time and resources, too. Where we pray diligently, our priorities, and thus our lives, will follow.
Other Important Information
The prayer calendar will give us all a common focus for our daily prayers. As you pray, know that your St. Luke’s brothers and sisters across the city are praying, too.
