United Methodist Women

The United Methodist Women (UMW) is an Embracing Community of women whose purpose is to know God, develop supportive relationships, and promote the global ministries of the church. UMW is a community whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of missions through participation the global ministries of the church.

UMW Circles

Afternoon Study Circle - Westheimer
This circle meets in member's homes at 12 noon, on the 4th Tuesday of the month (excluding summer months). Hostesses provide lunch followed by a program.

Night Circle - Westheimer
The Night Circle meets at 6:30 p.m. in homes and at the church on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Programs are presented by members or outside speakers. The January meeting will be in teh Hines Baker room at the church.  Light refreshments are served.

Shalom Circle - Gethsemane
Shalom Circle is a morning circle that meets at 9:30 a.m. in member's homes on the first Tuesday of the month. Programs are led by circle members with the focus on mission studies and topical programs.

Interest Groups

St. Luke's Book Group - Westheimer
The Book Group meets on the first Monday of the month. Coffee and fellowship begin at 10:00 a.m. with a devotional and book discussion following at 10:30 a.m. Books are selected by the group from different genre. Discussion facilitated by group members in room R25.

Gethsemane Book Group - Gethsemane
This Book Group meets September - May on the 2nd Saturday of each month in members' homes. The group selects varied book titles and themes with the discussion lead by group members. Book titles, discussion leaders and hostesses are signed for in September. Fellowship time begins at 9:30 a.m. with brunch and book discussion to follow.

Mah Jongg Group - Westheimer
The Games Group has evolved into a mah jongg group where all levels of experience are welcome. The group meets on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Mondays at 10:00 a.m. in room R25.

Moving in Ministry - Community Service Group - Westheimer
The group works on hands-on projects for St. Luke's and local charities. It meets on the 3rd Monday of the month at 10 a.m., excluding summer months, in room R25 or an outside location listed in the bulletin.
