We offer a broad number of heath and fitness programs, and whether you are a member of the church or not, we would love to have you join us. Please see the list of opportunities below.
Yoga
The benefits of Yoga are manifold, including flexibility, blood circulation, and stress reduction, to name a few. We have three yoga classes at the church each week, led by long time instructor Nancy Sorenson. The cost per class is $10. The days and times of the class are the following:
Tuesday, 6:00 p.m. in room B330
Saturday, 9:00 a.m. in room B330

Cycleology
Cycling is a great way to build muscle and enjoy aerobic exercise. If you would like to train for long distance rides or just like riding your bike, this class if for you. Your coach will be cyclist and trainer, Mary Hodge. We meet every Wednesday from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Blanton Building. The cost is $78. for a 6 week session. Active Adult Classes
Active Adult Classes are a great cardiovascular workout that also work on flexibility and strength conditioning. We have classes Monday through Friday mornings from 8 a.m. to
9 a.m in the South end of the Activities Center . These classes are in partnership with the Upper Kirby & Weekly YMCAs. Classes are free to YMCA members. For St. Luke's members who do not belong to the Y the classes are $5.00/class purchased in 10 class increments. For those who do not belong to the Y or to St. Luke's the classes are $10.00/class in 10 class increments. For additional information please contact the Upper Kirby YMCA at 713.522.9622
Aerobic Dance
Aerobic Dancing is the original fitness program designed to provide an excellent cardiovascular and muscle workout through choreographed dances. The program includes warm-up and cool-down dances and the Vertafirm concept. Vertafirm (with optional hand-held and/or ankle weights maximizes lower body strength and toning; it takes leg and thigh work off the floor and combines it with upper body conditioning. Our classes, led by Donna Parks using the Jacki Sorenson program, meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 p. m. in the activities center. Pilates
Pilates supports muscle development and posture, and is a low impact aerobic workout. Our pilates classes are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:15-10:15 a.m. on the 3rd Floor. Pilates is another partnership with the Upper Kirby and Weekly UMCAs.Classes are free to YMCA members. For St. Luke's members who do not belong to the Y the classes are $5.00/class purchased in 10 class increments. Ladies Boot Camp
Looking for a serious outside workout, this is for you. Our instructors, under the supervision of Vince Grbic, take you through an hour workout that will get that heart pumping and muscles moving. Don't let the term "Boot Camp" scare you. There is no yelling just continuous encouragement and great camaraderie. You don't need to be Wonder Woman to take this class. They take you from where you are and help you to trim, strengthen and feel good about yourself. Classes are held on Blanton Field with the Blanton Building as backup. The next session will begin in the fall 2008.
