Men's Life IV: Wild Man to Wise Man starting September 15, 2010 & Men's Life II: Ten Ways to Win at Work and at Home starting September 19, 2010

St. Luke's MEN'S LIFE program encourages men in their transformation towards being successful leaders at home, work and in their communities.

At the same time, other MEN'S LIFE programs have spread throughout the entire Houston area, as men are exploring new opportunities for personal growth in all of their relationships. It has been a phenomenal movement in this city and it continues to grow! When men connect in life-changing ways, a powerful ripple effect touches families, the workplace, even our communities. Deeper connections with God and other men inspire transformational change that is hard to describe. Through authentic and entertaining presentations and small group discussion, MEN'S LIFE helps men grow in authentic relationships with one another, while steering men to be all they were created to be.

The 2010-2011 Men's Life Offerings:

IV: Wild Man to Wise Man

Wednesdays 6:30am

In the Fall of 2010 and Spring of 2011, the Wednesday morning Men’s Life program will focus on a man’s spiritual journey from wild man to wise man. The study is built around a book by Richard Rohr by the same title, as well as incorporating the teachings of other authors in the area of Men’s spiritual development.

Dr. Tom Pace, who teaches the study each Wednesday morning at 6:30, says this study is focused on helping men grow, regardless of their stage of life.  The Fall Session begins on September 15, and last 10 weeks, through November 17. The Wednesday session begins in the Fellowship Hall of the Westheimer campus at 6:30 am. A brief presentation of the material is followed by small groups, which begin around 7:00 a.m. and conclude at 7:45 a.m. New members are always welcome.

II: Ten Ways to Win @ Work and at Home

Sundays 4:55pm

The Sunday evening Men’s Life group will study a man’s spiritual life as it interfaces with his work life and his home life. The fall session will focus on work life and in the spring the focus will be home life. The Sunday evening session meets in the Hines-Baker Room of the Westheimer campus. Each week there is a brief presentation followed by small group break outs. The group lets out in time for men to worship at the 6pm Improvisation service in the chapel.

What men are saying:
"MEN'S LIFE has made a drastic change in me. Sharing personal issues with other men is something difficult for most of us. But this forum makes it easy."

"This program has had as much relevance as any ever offered at St. Luke's for men. It is truly life-changing and sets a course that brings both excitement and relevance to daily living."

"MEN'S LIFE reinforces what I know I should do, but often don't. I was raised much differently, and told to be an ungodly man by the media and society."

"Why get up in the morning to attend Men’s Life... it is easy to stay in bed, easier still to not expand our thoughts and explore areas that trouble us, but Christians need to deal with the world  and things that challenge us. The Men’s Life meeting helps you unpack those areas and challenge your heart and soul to be a better husband, son, brother, father, employee and friend. It opens your eyes to dealing with the issues that affect our lives and that of others around US." -John C. Duffie
