Matthew 25:40 And the king will answer them, 'Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.'
Each of us is called to advance the kingdom of God in this world. In response, we have established a number of programs to support the needs of others. We engage in hands-on missions, prison ministry, childhood education programs, a ministry to low income families, and partnerships and grants with other organizations that are serving their communities in a meaningful way.
If you would like to get involved with any of these programs, please contact either Susan Silvus (713-402-5045), Katie Fields (713-402-5067), or Anne Adams (713-402-5039).
Grants
Sometimes our greatest impact occurs when we support other organizations. St. Luke’s provides grants to organizations that are making a difference in their communities. We seek organizations where our members can also serve as volunteers.

Missions
Our missions works includes programs that are local, national and global in reach. Here in Houston, we have teams that serve in local soup kitchens, help with home repair organizations, sponsor needy families at Christmas, and make toys and other goods in a woodwork shop. Nationally, we take trips to Maine and Colorado, often providing home repair for lower income families. Globally, we travel with other mission teams for outreach in such places as Kenya, Bolivia and Puerto Rico. To learn more about our missions opportunities,

Gulfton Outreach
Located three miles southwest of SLUMC, this area of our city is emerging as the gateway for immigrants to our nation of Hispanic heritage. Within this area is the fastest growing, most dense population of the entire Houston region with very low per capita and household incomes and low education. The emergence of this population is in part a result of an abundance of multi-family housing located close to job opportunities.
This population will have a major role in the region's future. Many anecdotal examples exist of individuals in this population being marginalized and taken advantage of. Currently St. Luke’s is collaborating with Lee High School, St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities, and Baylor College of Medicine to provide a health care clinic for students of Lee, and the YMCA and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health Charities to provide a child care facility at Lee. We have launched a Mentoring Program at Lee, and we offer Spanish Alpha Classes at a Gulfton area Pizza Hut for day workers.
