What if I'm Single?
John 15:5
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing."
St. Luke's is not just a church for couples and traditional families! We welcome and value singles--whether you've never been married, or you are separated, divorced, or widowed. We hope that you can find a place to get connected to ministry here, and we would be glad to help you do so.
At St. Luke's singles are integrated into all ministries of the church, rather than simply being relegated only to a "Singles Ministry." We connect to God, to others, and to the community around us by serving in Outreach, Men's, Women's, Children's, Youth, Music, Fine arts, and every other ministry of the church. Additionally, for those who would like to connect specifically with Singles, we have four Singles Sunday School Classes, as well as a mid-week singles Bible Study. Info is below on these ministries.
So if you are single, we invite you to get plugged in. Stop by the Connection Center on Sunday Morning to find your ministry.

________________________________________________________________________________
Our adult Sunday school classes are a forum for learning, sharing, and participating in service projects and social activities. This is the first place to "plug in!"
For our Singles (30 and better) there are two classes:
ONE meets in Room R25 for those ages 30-45+. To find out more about what's going on in the ONE class, read our weekly newsletter.....here. |
Sojourners meets in Room R22 for those ages 45+. Topics are presented by Phil Murray teaching a variety of study in a lecture/discussion format. Topics range from Bible study to faith issues in daily living. The class also sponsors regular social and service opportunitiies. For more details contact class president, Chris Holmes at uhalum@earthlink.net or Ann Haigh at ahaigh@home-mortgages.com

For our Singles (18-30'ish) there are two classes:
Discovery meets at 9:45 in the Office of Rev. Linda Christians, Executive Pastor of Discipleship. We believe that scripture speaks to us all in unique ways. Rather than "lead" this class, Steve and Ruth McCurdy get things started with a handful of scriptures, and the discussion emerges from the group as the "still, small voice" stirs the participants. It's always lively, always fun, and often moving--to the point of tears. If you fit best in a small-format, discussion-based group, this is the class for you! |
Luminous meets at 9:45 in the church fellowship hall, immediately following the Encounter Contemporary Worship Service. Combining teaching by Rev. Taylor Meador Fuerst with discussion groups, this large-format class is for both Singles and Married couples. Check out the Young Adult Page to learn more about what the Luminous Community is doing.
