Women's Ministries Bible Studies touch the lives of women of all ages and stages of their spiritual growth. Those new to the scriptures and those already on their journey share questions, insights and prayers as they grow together into a community of faith, understanding and love.
Sisters: A Small Group Study for Women
Sisters is a series of Bible studies produced especially for women by the United Methodist Publishing House. This open-ended series of studies invites women to delve into the Bible with a curriculum and setting that provides an opportunity for discussion and the formation of relationships with other women. Each study is authored by a woman of faith with an accompanying video and workbook and is approximately six to eight weeks in length. Materials will be provided for new groups who are interested in organizing. The present Sisters groups have completed the Sisters series and are using a variety of contemporary study guides for women, such as "The Secret Life of Bees" and "Serious Answers to Hard Questions." These groups meet on Monday or Tuesday nights from 6:30 p.m. to -8:00 p.m. in the Fall and Spring.

Monday Night Sisters Bible Study Group will begin a Fall study titled Devotion to Jesus: The Divinity of Christ in Earliest Christianity. Dr. Hurtado, one of the world's leading authorities on Christian origins explores when, where and why did people first believe in the divinity of Jesus? Through video and workbook selections we will look at historical roots of Christian practices.
This sixteen-week study begins September 15 in the Chapel Parlor. If you are interested in this small group study, prayer and fellowship please contact Dee Haggard at 713-402-5001.

Women at the Well meets each Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the Fall and Spring (no meetings in the summer). The curriculum chosen each year involves a study workbook, instructional video and discussion led by a facilitator. Many women bring their lunches and find time in their busy weekday schedules for Bible Study. This welcoming group encourages open discussion, sharing, devotionals and fellowship.
On Monday, January 12, The Women at the Well will begin a 10-week study of Esther utilizing Beth Moore's "Esther: It's Hard Being A Woman". Going up against heavyweights bent on her destruction, Esther trusted God and landed a blow that saved her people. The Old Testament story of Esther is a profile in courage and contains many modern parallels for today's woman. Esther's destiny can be yours as you know more deeply the God who is in your corner.

Jeanie Miley Bible Study
Jeanie Miley is a gifted author, columnist, retreat leader and speaker who leads Women's Bible studies locally and nationally, with an emphasis in practical spirituality. Jeanie has a unique teaching method she calls " relational Bible studies" because they are intended to facilitate the relationship between God and the person. Recent studies at St. Luke's have included "Sitting Strong.... When God Takes Too Long: Life Lessons from the Book of Job," and "Women....Made in the Image of God."
Jeanie's Spring 2009 study is a continuation of the Fall 2008 study entitled Water into Wine. This study looks at the Gospel of John. In John 10:10, Jesus said, "I have come that you might have life -- and life in all its abundance."
What did that mean for the people of Jesus' day?
Is the abundant life available to contemporary people?
What does it mean to have "eternal life"?
If "eternal life" is knowing God, as it says in John 17:3, how does that happen?
In his encounters with women and men, Jesus healed, transformed, liberated and empowered them so that they could access and express abundant life, light and love.
Through the mystery of the Living Christ, contemporary people can experience the gifts of his presence in practical, ordinary ways. The Gospel of John contains life-changing truths for everyone whether beginners on the spiritual path or seasoned pilgrims on the journey with Christ.
The Miley Bible Study will meet on Mondays, 6:30-8:30 with the first gathering on January 26th in the Church Parlor (B145). Registration fee is $60.00. To register please contact Dee Haggard at 713 402-5001.
