Annual Women's Ministries Tea
The
Women's Ministries Tea, held in February each year, offers the opportunity to honor the life of an exemplary woman in the church. This popular event features tables beautifully and diversely decorated by imaginative hostesses from the congregation. Past honorees have included
June Daniels Moore, Jackie Greer, Ann Smith, Eunice Lockett, Grace Ross and Jody Jackson. The
June D. Moore Endowment for Women was established at the first Tea in 2002. This endowment sustains programs and scholarships for women of the church. The Tea, a multi-generational event, serves as a celebration of friendships both old and new. If you would like to decorate a table, serve on the planning committee or simply attend the Tea, contact
Dee Haggard (713 402-5001).

Women's Ministry Tea, February 24, 2008
The 7th annual Women's Ministry Tea honoring Barbara Eason was a huge success! This wonderful event featured over 40 creatively decorated "tea themed" table settings. These beautiful tablescapes, plus the delicious food and sisterly fellowship made this festive occasion extra special!
Our annual Tea provides women the opportunity to make donations to the June D. Moore Endowment for Women, established in 2002. Tea co-chairs Karen McCarver and Kathy Wells are grateful to all those who helped make this event a success, from committee members, to table hostesses to youth servers to kitchen workers and all those who bought tickets and made donations to help this wonderful cause!

Round Top Retreat
Our Women’s Retreat is a unique opportunity for time away, renewal and spiritual growth. Traditionally held the first weekend in October, our Round Top Retreat always proves to be a favorite time for relaxing in communion with other women from the church community. Music, quiet time, spiritual exercises, beautiful surroundings and exceptional speakers encourage women of all ages to meditate on their spiritual development and growth. The Round Top Retreat Center, in Round Top, TX, home for this getaway, has become a sanctuary for renewal.
The Fall 2009,
Round Top Retreat features
Eva Archer Smith as retreat leader. If you would like more information about attending, contact
Dee Haggard (713 402-5001) or visit the
retreat webpage where you can download a brochure, register online, and view a video of previewing this year's retreat.
Women's Ministries is committed to sharing our faith through ministering to the Houston community. Through a variety of events, the women of St. Lukes have extended the church's love and care to those who share our city. Often organized in conjunction with Outreach Ministries, these opportunities are especially designed for women who cannot commit to a long term weekly or monthly project but have a mission heart. Past opportunities include clothing collections for the Women's Home, meal service at Hospitality Apartments, supporting the Blanton/Davis Sprint for Life and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and providing welcoming baskets for Habitat homes. Projects are scheduled on a yearly basis and may differ from year to year as a specific need arises.
Day Retreats
If you can't get away for a weekend but would like some time apart from your busy schedule, try a Day Retreat! Make plans to join us at Villa de Matel or the Cenacle Retreat House, which are both within the city limits, for a class or a day of meditation. You'll be able to combine the opportunity for spiritual renewal with the limitations of your busy schedule. Watch the announcements for details on upcoming retreats.

MVP's (Mothers Valuing Prayers)
MVP's is a group of mothers with college age students who meet weekly to pray for their students. Each month, student names are selected randomly by the mothers involved who both pray and send notes of encouragement to their selected college students. In addition to praying for their students the Mothers also select a prayer partner among each other to have prayer partners during the ensuing month. Mothers interested in forming new groups are welcomed. For more information, contact Catherine Braun at 713-854-8282.
