Discovery
Topic: Bible based interactive discussion
Room: Church Offices

Age Range: 20s - singles, young couples, married
 
Discovery meets in the office of Rev. Linda Christians and is a small class for young adults. Rather than "lead" this class, Steve and Ruth McCurdy get things started with a handful of scriptures, and the discussion emerges from the group as the "still, small voice" stirs participants. It's always lively, always fun, and often moving -- to the point of tears.  If you fit best in a small group format, discussion-based group, this is the class for you!
 

Luminous
Topic:Faith-In-Life Bible teachings
Age Range: 18 - early 30s -singles and couples

Luminous meets  immediately following the Encounter Contemporary Worship Service.  Combining teaching by Rev. Taylor Meador Fuerst with discussion groups, this large-format class is for both Singles and Married couples.

New Beginnings

Age Range - late 20s - early 40s - couples, many with small children
 
 

New Beginnings is a class for couples seeking fellowship and Christian growth, with a focus on Bible-based relationships and parenting.  Teaching rotates between Martha Jamison and class members; discussion is always encouraged.  Members enjoy social activities, service, and shared life experiences. For couples in their mid-30s-early 50s, featuring relevant Faith-in-Life topics and Bible study. Led by class members and guest speakers. Service projects and social events with families and couples.

Lamplighters is comprised mostly of couples in their 30's and 40's, this class offers Bible-based lessons and discussion led by Gene Graham as well as regular service projects and fellowship opportunities.

Age Range: late 40s to early 60s, many are parents of teenage and young adult children

This dynamic class consists mostly of couples aged 40 to 60 plus and is taught by Steve Lufborrow along with occasional guest teachers.  Genesis class enjoys topics on Faith-In-Life, Bible, and contemporary issues presented in a lecture/discussion format. Topic: Practical Bible Study and Faith-in-Life topics

Range: Mid 40s and up - Singles and Couples
 

A large group, 40's and up and welcoming younger folks, studying Bible and Faith-in-Life topics with regular teacher Richard Ethun and guest lecturers as necessary.  The Goodwill Class is composed of dedicated to Christ, fun-loving and supportive members.  The Goodwill Class sponsors regular social and service events with members participating in a broad spectrum of St. Luke's, Houston and Texas faith and charitable activities.  This class has a weekly email newsletter (The Goodwill E-pistle) and all are welcome to be included on the email list by providing their email address.  For more information about this class, contact current class president, David Wakefield.

We are a friendly class, taught by excellent teachers, and we enjoy much discussion. Lead teacher, Joel Mohrman, prepares insightful series of topics that explore the Bible, its history and its relevance to our lives.  The name of our class says it all: We're open to all ages, whether married or single, and open to all ideas, learning methods, service opportunities and fun.  If you're seeking a class to strengthen your faith, we welcome you!

Named for our founding teacher, our class offers an active and caring fellowship blending lively interactive and in-depth Biblical discussions. Led by outstanding church members, Hank Coleman and Jim Henderson, we welcome your participation in our class. This is truly a Christian fellowship opportunity, open to all ages, singles and couples. Sojourners

Sojourners topics are presented by Phil Murray  and cover a variety of topics in a lecture/discussion format.  Subjects range from Bible study to faith issues in daily living.  The class also sponsors regular social and service opportunitiies.

St Luke's Study
Topic: Variety of Topics, lead by class members and guest speakers

Age Range: 45 plus, couples and single

A large fellowship of couples and singles, 45 and up, centered around thought-provoking lessons presented each week by both class members and guest teachers on a wide variety of topics.

Class members are active in church leadership and in numerous outreach and mission activities, and enjoy an active calendar of social activities such as monthly 'Games Night' parties, monthly second Sunday lunches together, and the annual Mo ranch retreat.

Bible Discovery

Age Range: All Ages

Bringing the Bible to life! That is what happens in Bible Discovery. The class is led by the exciting team of Jack and Fran Steele. 

Jack gives a history and explanation of the Bible reading. Fran divides the class into small groups to discuss these scriptures. We have a wonderful interaction discussing the study and finally, Jack tells how the scriptures relate to our everyday lives.

Charles Wesley

Age Range: All ages, mostly members involved in the choir program

This class is designed for persons of all ages seeking a concentrated class. We meet from 9:50 a.m until
10:20 a.m. in the Choir Room.

Many  of our members are in the Chancel Choir but others are always welcome.  Topics studied are establishjed in consultation with the class and generally are in areas of Scripture and Theology.

The class is not designed for people seeking social or service experience outside the choir program. Leadership is usually provided by Dr. Don Byrnes a simi-retired United Methodist Minister and educator. For further information contact him at byrnes.d@sbcglobal.net

An adult and family class, crossing generations, offers an in-depth analysis Bible study which includes community, study, sharing, questions, life application and accountability. Usually taught by David Gow and Steve McCarthy (pictured)

Good Faith offers 30-something singles adults an interactive opportunity to grow in their faith through a wide variety of lesson topics led by class members. Emphasis on spiritual growth and social issues in the community are combined with opportunities to reflect and share personal experiences of the Bible. Lively discussion prevails. Jesus, Others, Yourself  -  is the focus of this class whose members are primarily residents of the Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation or local group homes. Each member has their own unique abilities and talents.  You would be surprised at what you can learn from them! The hour is filled with Bible lessons, music, and prayer.

If you have a calling to work with special needs adults.  These beautiful souls would love to have you join them.  The only required qualification is a willingness to be a friend to the class members.  Special training is not needed.
