Psalm 27:14 NRSV

14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong, and let your heart take courage;
    wait for the Lord!

Reflection:
Waiting is not always a part of our lives since we live in a world with many conveniences. Amid the global viral pandemic of COVID-19, waiting has now become the “new normal”. This is not really a normal wait though. We are waiting for answers from government leaders and health officials, waiting to go back to church, sporting events, schools and even back to our favorite restaurants. Sadly, this waiting is more than just an inconvenience for many families, it is downright heartbreaking. To stop the spread of this virus to those more vulnerable, grandparents are being asked to isolate themselves from their children and grandchildren with no certainty about when they will be reunited. In Psalm 27, David calls out to the Lord and praises him for his protection, love and grace. David reminds us in verse 14 that we must wait for the Lord, for his will to be done. We do not know God’s will, and this makes us uneasy, but we should still take courage. Take courage in the knowledge that God’s hand is in all things, and he does all things in his time. Since we are human and not God, we must wait, but wait confidently for he is the Lord. His hand is on the friends and family members we care for. He will do all good things in his time. We can faithfully wait on the Lord by reading his word and by singing spiritual songs, our loud or in our hearts with thanksgiving and praise to him. During this time, have the courage to take God at his Word, and trust that he will strengthen your heart. Wait for the Lord.

Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we look to you in this difficult time. You know our hearts, and you are with us always. Help us to remember that we must wait for your will to be done. As we read your word and sing praises to you, Lord strengthen our hearts, so that we may wait confidently with you on our minds and in our hearts.
