WELCOME TO ST. LUKE’S STUDENT MINISTRIES

For students in 6th-12th grade, our middle and high school ministries offer strategically focused Bible studies and events to meet students where they are and spur them on to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. We are committed to loving and serving youth and their families as they navigate the teen years and explore their faith in Christ.

Join us on Sundays!

Here are the Student Ministry links for this morning. We will be on Instagram Live (@stlukes_students) and Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/stlukes.students) at 10:00 am with a 15-minute lesson. After that wraps up, we will break into grade-specific Zoom Groups.

Student Daily Devos- The Gospel of Luke

Our students have encouraged us to start a daily bible study, so we are going to work through the book of Luke. Everyone will study on their own and will have the opportunity to chat about the passage of the day on the bible app. We have already had a great response from students signing up. There’s still time to join; if your student is interested, use this survey monkey.

Monday Parent Gathering

Our weekly parent gathering is Monday morning at 10:00. This is designed to be a time for parents to talk and share and pray for one another. I know this is a stressful and turbulent time for everyone and having a moment to stop and connect with other parents and pray for one another is so important.

Here is a copy of the working document for Student Ministry on moving forward. It has some more specific details about our plans for the summer and potentially having in person gatherings. I always appreciate any feedback or questions you may have.

Prayer Walk for Lamar High School This Saturday, June 6

Join in prayer with St. Luke’s, St. John the Divine, Bethany Christian, and Lamar students and administrators from 9-10:00 a.m. Meet at the Westheimer flagpole. Social distancing and masks required. RSVP here.

Summer Trips

I promised you guys a few weeks ago that I would give an update about our summer trips soon. It may not be a surprise, but we do not think it is a realistic plan for our students to cross the country for our CIY trips. Furthermore, our ministry partner for the Middle School mission trip (Blueprint Ministries) canceled all of their summer mission trips. We will be issuing a full refund to anyone who signed up early for these trips.

However, we ARE planning on having MS and HS CIY experiences and MS and HS mission projects during the dates originally scheduled for these trips. I am hosting a ZOOM for parents and students this Thursday at 5:00 pm to share more information about those plans.

Here are a few teasers

  • CIY is making all of their content available so that we can experience the same material as the in-person camps.
  • There are tons of ways for us to serve in Houston.
  • Safety of our students and families and obeying appropriate social distancing rules is non-negotiable.
  • We have an awesome creative team and we are excited about some of the things that will come out of this unconventional summer of Student Ministry.
  • We own an inflatable screen and have access to the Blanton field.

Click here to RSVP for Thursday’s zoom. We will send you the link and an email reminder.

If you know your student would be interested, click here and we will add them to the official list. These experiences will have a fee but that fee will be a fraction of the cost of the originally planned summer trip. Scholarships are available for anyone that needs them.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Servant Leadership Academy is a process of deeper discipleship and intentional training and leadership opportunities for students who want to learn how to put their faith into practice by serving inside and outside the church. Students will have the opportunity to join a study of leadership, Scripture, and spiritual formation, as well as unique leadership opportunities among the church and peers.  All students are invited to begin the application process by filling out the application here.  For more information contact Joseph Patty.

PARENTS & VOLUNTEERS

It is clear in scripture that the primary source of discipleship in a student’s life is the home. Our hope is to effectively partner with you and encourage you to be the parents God has called you to be. We have countless opportunities for people wanting to partner with Student Ministry at St. Luke’s As a volunteer, you could lead a weekly small group, travel with us to retreats and mission trips, share your gift of photography or anything in between. If you feel a calling to walk alongside our 6th-12th grade students in their journeys of faith, we invite you to sit down with one of our staff members to learn more about all the ways to get involved.
