WELCOME TO ST. LUKE’S STUDENT MINISTRIES

For students in 6th-12th grade, our middle and high school ministries offer strategically focused Bible studies and events to meet students where they are and spur them on to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. We are committed to loving and serving youth and their families as they navigate the teen years and explore their faith in Christ.

Join us on Sundays!

Here are the Student Ministry links for this morning. We will be on Instagram Live (@stlukes_students) and Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/stlukes.students) at 10:00 am with a 15-minute lesson. After that wraps up, we will break into grade-specific Zoom Groups.

In Times Like These… Messages from Rob Dulaney

Many of you may have heard that Remy Velarde died in a tragic accident this week while in Washington State. Remy was only 23 years old and was the oldest son of Tracy Velarde, our Student Ministry administrative staff. Remy grew up in and then worked in our ministry for over ten years altogether, sharing his love for Jesus and His faith in Christ with everyone he met. He was a bright, brilliant young man who was beloved by hundreds at St. Luke’s and various other communities in Texas and Arizona, where he went to college.

Here is a link to an article written by some of his college friends at Grand Canyon University, including a very touching tribute video that includes other statements people have shared about Remy in the last few days.

Many people have asked what they can do. Here are a few things currently in the works:

  1. There are initiatives for the Velardes (like meal trains) set up. Email me directly and I can share details about those. I think a critical thing we can do is simply be the church for one another. A loss like this reverberates throughout our church family. It is impossible to have known Remy or the Velardes and not feel a profound sadness for this tragic loss. These are times when we need each other more than ever. This can be challenging in an age of social distancing. However, I have been amazed at the beautiful ways this community has already rallied and supported one another during this difficult time..

I love you guys. Feel free to email me if you have any further questions or thoughts or if your student has any specific ministry needs.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

The Servant Leadership Academy is a process of deeper discipleship and intentional training and leadership opportunities for students who want to learn how to put their faith into practice by serving inside and outside the church. Students will have the opportunity to join a study of leadership, Scripture, and spiritual formation, as well as unique leadership opportunities among the church and peers.  All students are invited to begin the application process by filling out the application here.  For more information contact Joseph Patty.

PARENTS & VOLUNTEERS

It is clear in scripture that the primary source of discipleship in a student’s life is the home. Our hope is to effectively partner with you and encourage you to be the parents God has called you to be. We have countless opportunities for people wanting to partner with Student Ministry at St. Luke’s As a volunteer, you could lead a weekly small group, travel with us to retreats and mission trips, share your gift of photography or anything in between. If you feel a calling to walk alongside our 6th-12th grade students in their journeys of faith, we invite you to sit down with one of our staff members to learn more about all the ways to get involved.
