Welcome to St. Luke’s Student Ministry
For students in 6th-12th grade, our middle and high school ministries offer strategically focused Bible studies and events to meet students where they are and spur them on to know, love, and follow Jesus Christ. We are committed to loving and serving youth and their families as they navigate the teen years and explore their faith in Christ.
Middle School
Welcome 6th-8th grade students! We know middle school is viewed by many as the awkward years, but God has more planned for you than a few years of awkwardness. Your openness for life and enthusiasm for learning are two of the things we appreciate most about this age group. Each week at St. Luke’s, you will have the opportunity to connect with your peers and learn more about a life changing relationship with Jesus.
Confirmation is a very special experience for our 6th through 8th graders. At the center of confirmation is at St. Luke’s is the idea that our faith is a journey and not simply a one time experience. Confirmation takes place in the fall of the 6th grade year on Sundays. Periodically during the 7th grade year and during the spring of the seventh grade year. Through this process students will develop deep and lasting relationships with other students and adults. Our hope is that by the end of the confirmation journey the confirmations will feel a deep sense of belonging with this church community and they will be able to make an informed and conscious choice to trust in Jesus. Small Groups take place in homes all over the city. It is a great chance for students to build friendship, find accountability and a chance to grow deeper in their faith. Groups start with a shared a meal before a discussion time facilitated by two dedicated adult leaders. Most groups are divided by grade and gender. Contact Savannah Burch for more information.
Founded in 1996 by Director of Music Sid Davis, Pure Sound Youth Choir leads music most Sunday mornings during the school term at the 8:30 a.m. traditional service. Alumni regularly return to St. Luke’s and Pure Sound to join the choir and full orchestra in biennial performances of Vivaldi’s Gloria on Christmas Eve. These youth present a fully staged musical each spring and a musical revue at the end of each summer. Past shows include Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Godspell, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Children of Eden, Beauty and the Beast, and Wizard of Oz. Biennial tours take them to destinations such as San Francisco, Cuba, New York City, Washington, DC, Alaska and the United Kingdom, with performances at locations like the United Nations, St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, BBC4 Radio in the UK, and St. Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Edinburgh. Pure Sound rehearses on Sundays during the school term from 4-5:30 p.m.

Parents & Volunteers
It is clear in scripture that the primary source of discipleship in a student’s life is the home. Our hope is to effectively partner with you and encourage you to be the parents God has called you to be. We have countless opportunities for people wanting to partner with Student Ministry at St. Luke’s As a volunteer, you could lead a weekly small group, travel with us to retreats and mission trips, share your gift of photography or anything in between. If you feel a calling to walk alongside our 6th-12th grade students in their journeys of faith, we invite you to sit down with one of our staff members to learn more about all the ways to get involved.
