Church Words

We hear and use a lot of words in church…fellowship, accountability, evangelism…but do we know what they mean? In this four-week series, we discuss the biblical origins and meanings of some of the most used “church words” in our vocabulary and how we can live into the true spirit of those words.

Week One – Sin, Conviction, and Accountability

“Why?” Series

“Why do bad things happen to good people?” This is a question almost every Christian seeing a loved one suffer has asked of God at some point in our lives. We asked students earlier in the year what questions they would ask if God was in the room with them and created this series using the most prevalent questions they asked. The Bible doesn’t always give us the answers, but this series is a way for us to give students space to wrestle with those questions together.

Week One – Why is there suffering?

Week Two – Why doesn’t God destroy Satan?

Week Three – Why does God let people weaponize their faith?

Week Four – Why is every sin the same in God’s eyes?

Week Five – Why do actions matter if God knows everything?

BONUS WEEK! We’ll be combining middle and high school on April 2 for a special stations of the cross experience.

Spring Small Group

Middle School
6th and 8th grade students will be looking at different themes found in the Bible, using videos from the Bible Project, created by Tim Mackie and Jonathan Collins. This series helps students shift from knowing about stories from scripture to being able to explore scripture for themselves. Here are a few of the different themes we’ll be discussing this semester:

Holiness
The Test
Messiah
Sacrifice and Atonement
Sabbath
Tree of Life

7th grade
Students will be working through key faith foundations found in The Absolute Basics of the Christian Faith by Phil Tallon. This curriculum includes short videos and guided discussion topics centered on Wesleyan theology that answers questions such as, “What is God like?”, “Why did the Son of God become human?”, and “What does the Holy Spirit do?”.

High School
High school students will be joining the rest of the church in studying the book of Philippians using Scripture + Shared study Joy|Full, exploring ways to find joy in all circumstances and stages of life.
